From the Pastor's Desk

When I was growing up, my father often shared a simple lesson that has stayed with me throughout my life. He would say, “Inside every human heart there are two wolves. One is filled with anger, pride, selfishness, resentment, and fear. The other is filled with love, peace, humility, compassion, and faith.” One day I asked him, “Which one wins?” He smiled and replied, “The one you feed.”

That simple lesson reminds us of a profound spiritual truth. Every one of us faces a daily battle — not so much with the world around us, but within our own hearts. We are constantly choosing between good and evil, faith and fear, forgiveness and resentment, humility and pride. These choices, repeated day after day, gradually shape the people we become.

The Good News is that we are not left to fight this battle on our own. Jesus Christ has conquered sin and the powers of darkness through His Cross and Resurrection. When we stay close to Him, His grace strengthens us to choose what is good, even when it is difficult. His love gives us the courage to overcome temptation and to live as His faithful disciples.

Whenever we pray, reflect on God’s Word, receive the Holy Eucharist, celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation, forgive those who have hurt us, or perform even the smallest act of kindness, we are feeding the life of Christ within us. But whenever we cling to anger, selfishness, pride, hatred, or sin, we nourish the very things that draw us away from God and rob us of His peace.

So today, take a quiet moment to ask yourself: Which wolf am I feeding? Which one will I choose to feed today? Feed faith instead of fear. Feed forgiveness instead of resentment. Feed hope instead of despair. Feed love instead of anger. Above all, feed your soul with Christ. The more you nourish your relationship with Him, the more His peace, His love, and His life will reign in your heart.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, stay with me always. When I am tempted, give me strength. When I am weak, give me grace. Help me to feed all that is good, holy, and pleasing to You. May my thoughts, my words, and my actions reflect Your love each day, and in all things, help me always to choose You above all else. Amen.
